ThermEx helps eliminate bed bugs with new product.

Because of the dramatic rise in bed bug infestations that are affecting our homes, hotels, apartment complexes or nursing homes two companies decided to join forces and come up with a solution. Massey Services (a service provider in the pest management industry) and Chromalux (leading manufacturer of precision heat and control products) have come up with the ThermEx program. The program will be released this month at this year’s National Pest Management Association’s annual PestWorld conference. Along with the introduction of the product training will be provided by Massey Services.
What exactly is the ThermEx program? It’s a revolutionary bed bug heat remediation. From the ThermEx package you can expect a Chromalux designed heating unit and training from Massey Services. Why heat? Research has shown that heat is a more effective method for treating bed bugs rather than residual products because of the fact that bed bugs can hide in extremely hard to find cracks and crevices making complete termination very difficult. A heat remediation treatment usually will take 48 hours to eliminate an entire bed bug population while a residual treatment can take up to 12 weeks to work effectively. The focus of the program is for hotels and multi-unit housing such as apartments or nursing homes.
More information about Massey Services, Chromalux and the ThermEx Progam can be found here: lawnandlandscape.com/news/news.asp?ID=7068

Bed Bug Trap can help you eliminate your pest control problem.

Got bed bugs? Why not try a scientifically designed bed bug trap to take care of the situation for you? “NightWatch” is a new and upcoming bed bug trap designed by BioSensory to trap bed bugs with a proprietary, 7-part kairomone lure which uses the pests’ own natural, biological attractants and feeding instincts against them. How exactly does that work? By mimicking the CO2 and heat of a human body, NightWatch combines this with safe and powerful lure to make the trap extremely effective at locating and catching bed bugs before they get a chance to bite you!

For more information on NightWatch as well as statistics and diagrams from a NightWatch test (NightWatch caught over 1,000 bugs in one night!) visit the website:

CDC 3000 eliminates bed bug problem

The Climex Dectection Case (otherwise known as CDC 3000) is a new way of eliminating your bed bug problem. In fact the CDC 3000 is also portable (comes in a small black case), which means you can bring it with you on vacations or whenever you stay in a hotel. This could mean not bringing bed bugs home with you! Wouldn’t that be amazing?
Much like another bed bug monitor, NightWatch, the CDC 3000 mimics the presence of a human body drawing in bed bugs. The CDC can detect even incipient levels of bed bugs in areas up to 100 square feet! The idea between the CDC is that it is not only portable but easy to use. The case has a refillable CO2 canister (can be replaced at Cimex and other local paint ball supply stores).
An experiment was done using the CDC 3000 and it showed that after as little as one hour, bed bugs are drawn out of their hiding places. They enter an opening in the case, which traps them in a small capture slide. The slide is then removable, allowing you to count, document, and archive the findings in a safe and secure fashion. Slides are easily replaced to allow multiple tests in rapid succession or to allow the case to be moved from different locations.

Guaranteed Bed Bug Solution offered by Diatect International.

The company Diatect International has come up with a “Guaranteed Bed Bug Solution” to take care of the bed bugs in your home. According to Diatect there are three essential things you must do to kill bed bugs.

1. Make a Barrier

This means making a barrier between the bugs and their food source (you) by using the powder in the bed bug solution kit. The barrier has to be constant for the entire treatment period. Even a day lapse could set you back by weeks.

Helpful hint: If you can fit the edge of a credit card into a crack or crevice, bed bugs can fit in too!

2. Sleep in Your Bed

If you stop sleeping in your bed and the bed bugs get hungry they will travel to find blood, meaning you will further spread the infestation. They can also enter into a hibernation type state allowing them to survive for up to 7 months without a blood meal.

3. Treat Once a Week for 4-6 Weeks

According to the website:
“1 lb of RESULTS will effectively treat a 1,000 square foot area. Most bedrooms are around 250 square feet so 1 bottle should be enough for about 3-4 weeks worth of treatment to a single room (a very fine and uniform dusting is very important, clumps of powder will create area’s the bed bugs avoid. We recommend gently spreading the powder after applying with a small broom or brush.). Just about any effective means of bed bug eradication is going to take several weeks to fully work.”

Diatect International says this product works because of Pyrethrums, which are oily, liquid esters which have been carefully refined from flowers of the Chrysanthemum family commonly known as the ‘African Daisy’. When used in it can kill insects quickly but then disappear. Once exposed to the natural environment, the Pyrethrum degrades to leave nothing harmful to accumulate in the environment, the natural food chain, or in our food supplies. This combination of lethality and nonpersistence makes it a near perfect insecticide.

Other ingredients used: Diatomaceous Earth (Safe as Sand but Lethal to Insects) and Piperonyl Butoxide (Synthetic Sassafras Oil for Longer Lasting Effectiveness)

More information including customer testimonials can be found at their website.

Website: diatect.com/kill-bed-bugs-now3.php

If you have used this product before share with us below what you liked/disliked about it. Would you recommend it to a friend? What are the advantages/disadvantages of using a product like this over an exterminator?

Bed Shield prevents bed bugs and Leslie Leylands new business.

Do you have unwanted bed bugs? Leslie Leyland could help you with your problem. You may be wondering who Leslie Leyland is. She is a entrepreneur from Cincinnati that has invested $250,000 to start Bed Shield LLC. Bed Shield LLC offers products that stop bed bugs from invading your bed – from mattresses, box springs and pillow cases. Leyland’s line has been endorsed by Snell Scientifics (an independent lab company that tests pest products).

The company’s launch coincides with a huge growing bed bug problem not only in the region but across the entire country. Hamilton County and Cincinnati public health officials announced a joint bedbug task force to attack the issue after receiving a rising number of complaints in recent years. The idea behind Bed Shield is that it will work alongside the task force to reduce the growing bed bug problem.

Because bed bugs live in mattresses, cracks, crevices, floors and furniture they can be found in a low-income housing unit just as easily as a five star hotel, so Leyland wanted to make products that were assessable to a wide range of people. Encasements for mattresses and box springs sell for about $50 to $100 and pillow cases for $15 to $20. Leyland has made a contract with American Hotel Register, a national supplier to the hospitality industry, to sell Bed Shield.

Leyland hasn’t given any sales or profit projections yet but is confident that her products will be profitable. While aware that Bed Shield products won’t completely eliminate bed bug problems she believes they will help immensely. Others agree that products from Bed Shield will be a critical tool in getting rid of bed bugs.
