Hotel Zaps The Bedbugs (New Mexico)

FARMINGTON — An infestation by thousands of bugs about a quarter-inch long ultimately will cost owners of Days Inn $63,000.

“We are replacing everything,” said Rez Chowdhury, who owns the bed bug-infested structure. “We’ve already ordered new carpet and bedding, and we’re waiting for results of an investigation by Ecolab.”

Bedbugs Should Be Declared A Health Hazard (Toronto)

A Toronto municipal councillor wants the city’s health board to take steps to declare the growing problem of bed bugs a “health hazard.”

Howard Moscoe said he will urge the board to ask the province to make the necessary changes under the provincial Health Act.

Last year, pest control companies reported a marked increase in bed bug infestations.

Johnson City Apartment Complex Tackling Bed Bug Infestation

Many of the 137 people who live at the John Sevier apartment building in Johnson City haven’t been sleeping all that tight for at least the last year-and-a-half. For months, the government housing apartment complex, home to seniors and people with disabilities, has been infested by bed bugs.

“Vampires are real,” Bryan Saunders said of the bed bugs that have crawled into his room. “They’ve evolved over the years into tiny, tick-size little bugs.”

Bed Bug Problem Growing In Franklin County

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A task force was unveiled Thursday by the Franklin County Board of Health in hopes of avoiding increasing cases of bed bugs.

According to the county, there have been two major bed bug infestations this year.

Bed bugs can fester for months inside homes and their bites leave marks, 10TV’s Andy Hirsch reported.

New Task Force Ready To Battle Bed Bugs

Move over frogs and locusts, the bed bugs are coming.

“Ladies and gentlemen, they’re here,” said Bill Willis, an lawyer who handles landlord-tenant disputes. “I field three to five bed bug problems a day. I want it to stop.”

With concern mounting over the resurgence of bed bugs, the Franklin County Board of Health is establishing an interagency bed bug task force for central Ohio.
